Review and Evaluations

Communio has extensive experience in evaluation across the continuum from designing key performance indicators and evaluation frameworks to the conduct of large scale national evaluations and reviews.

Our approach to any evaluation assignment carefully considers the goals and objectives of the review.  We work with our clients to understand the context, the use of programme logics,  identify the available data measures and gain an understanding of how the results of the evaluation will be used.

Communio generally uses a mixed methods approach to conducting evaluations noting that no one approach will yield sufficient information on its own to draw robust conclusions.  We pride ourselves on the creation of robust evaluation strategies that suit the context of the project.

Communio’s evaluation approach is based on the following principles:

·       Focussed on the goals and objectives of the programme
·       Flexible with our approach – we develop an nuanced understanding of the context, we work with stakeholders to get them engaged in the process
·       Feasible –  our approach is realistic, prudent and cost-effective
·       Propriety – our work is legal, ethical and respectful
·       Accurate –  our reviews and evaluations are robust, fair and allow us to draw clear interpretations supported by evidence of our decision making process
·       Meaningful – our approach to review and evaluations allows us to make useful, defensible conclusions that can help to influence change

Examples of our recent experience include:

Evaluation Study of Programmes within WorkCover NSW

WorkCover NSW required an evaluation study to be undertaken on two of their current compliance programmes.

The aim was to obtain business intelligence about the effectiveness of the programme and processes, obtain information on programme process improvement and to assess the interaction external clients have had with WorkCover NSW.

Using a collaborative approach Communio engaged WorkCover NSW and key stakeholders to successfully deliver the evaluation studies.  The final report findings and outcomes measuring the knowledge and level of compliance of participants help WorkCover assess the effectiveness of the programmes. In addition, key recommendations were provided to help contribute to programme improvements.
